Beinn Dearg Four-Loch Broom, 4 Munros
August 21 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm£45
Beinn Dearg, Cona’ Mheall, Meall nan Ceapraichean and Eididh nan Clach Geala make up a circuit of four munros that are easily access from Inverlael, by Loch Broom on the A835 Dingwall to Ullapool Road.
The day will begin by following a 4×4 track through the forest along side the River Lael gradually the track rises as it reaches the outer edge of the forest. From here the track now becomes a path, we will continue along this path until it is possible to gain the west facing ridge of Eididh nan Clach Geala. This is a broad grassy ridge with no distinct footpath that leads us to the summit of Eididh nan Clach Geala the first munro of the day.
To reach Meall nan Ceapraichean we must descend to the east from Eididh nan Clach Geala, pass a lochan and climb steeply to a munro top, pass over this top to gain the summit of Meall nan Ceapraichean the second munro of the day.
Descent from Meall nan Ceapraichean is to the east again to a collection of small lochans, from here we continue east passing a corbett top to climb steeply to the summit of Cona’ Mheall the third munro of the day.
Now we retrace our steps back to the collect of small lochans, from here we gain the north facing ridge of Beinn Dearg and climb this directly to the summit of Beinn Dearg the fourth and final munro of this circuit.
To descend from Beinn Dearg we will retrace our steps back to the collection of small lochans and follow the River Lael from its source back into the forest and back to the parking at Inverlael.
