Ben Macdui via Fiacaill Ridge, 2 Munros
June 18 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
£45
Ben Macdui sits at the very heart of the Cairngorm National Park and is the second highest of the munros. This spectacular route combines an ascent of the Fiacaill Ridge, Ben Macdui and Cairngorm to give an excellent circuit within the Cairngorm National Park.
Starting from the parking at Cairngorm Mountain Resort a gentle stroll on a well made footpath will take us into the Northern Corries until it possible to gain the Fiacaill Ridge. A first we will ascend steep grassy slopes that eventually lead to rocky ground higher up and a narrowing of the ridge. Easy scrambling leads to the vast expanse of the Cairngorm Plateau.
We will continue south crossing this vast plateau until we reach the summit of Ben Macdui the highest point within the Cairngorm National Park and the second highest of the munros.
To descend from Ben Macdui we must retrace our steps north back to the mighty cliffs of the Northern Corries, here we change direction to east and pass over a munro top. A steep uphill climb leads to the summit of Cairngorm.
Descent will be to the north passing through the ski centre and returning us to the car park at Cairngorm Mountain Resort.
