Glen Lyon Four, 4 Munros

The Glen Lyon Four is made up of four munros, Carn Gorm, Meall Garbh, Carn Mairg and Meall nan Aighean all of which offer fine views over the Lawers Range, Glen Lyon and to the higher mountains of the north.

Starting from the parking near Invervar a small footpath leads through the woods to gain a 4×4 forestry track, we will follow this track until it is possible to cross the Invervar Burn. Once safely across the burn we will continue west climbing grassy slopes to reach the summit of Carn Gorm the first munro in this circuit of the Glen Lyon Four.

We will descend to the north, pass over a munro top, An Sgorr and climb a rocky slope to gain the distinct summit of Meall Garbh the second munro in this circuit of the Glen Lyon four marked with a cairn made from old cast iron fence posts.

The journey now continues east passing over another munro top, Meall a’ Bharr to a steep climb over rocky ground to reach the summit of Carn Mairg the third munro in this circuit of the Glen Lyon Four.

A steep descent south leads to a steep climb up grassy slopes to reach the summit of Meall nan Aighean the final munro in the circuit of the Glen Lyon Four and a fine view point of the route taken over the course of the day.

Descent is to the west down gentle grassy slopes back to the 4×4 track that will lead us back to our original starting point at Invervar.
