NNAS Bronze Navigation Award, Glasgow Botanic Gardens

This course is over two days, it is suitable for complete beginners to navigation using map and compass or those with basic knowledge seeking to build upon there existing navigation skills. This course is also suitable for those who would like to pursue a career within the outdoors and is a good starting point if you would like to attend the MTA Lowland Leader Award.
Day 1, will be based in and around the inner city parks of Glasgow. Where we will look at the different types of maps, grid references and how to orientate or set the map using linear features and the compass.
Day 2, will be based at Mugdock Country Park, here we will reinforce the previous days learning, put those skills to the test and there will be the opportunity to seek further guidance.
Due to COVID-19 all coaching of navigation skills will be based outside, including the theory element of this course. Please be prepared for any weather. Aspect Mountaineering requests that you bring your own map case, compass and hand santiser. If you do not have these please contact Aspect Mountaineering. All maps will be provided by Aspect Mountaineering, they will be laminated and sterilised before and during use.
