The Grey Corries, 4 Munros
September 25 @ 7:30 am - 6:00 pm
£65.00
The Grey Corries is a magnificent mountain range and a must do for the munro enthusiast. This circuit is made up of Sgurr Choinnich Mor, Stob Coire an Laoigh, Stob Choire Claurigh and finishes with the stand alone munro Stob Ban.
The day will begin from the car parking at Corriechollie, from here we will follow pleasant forestry tracks through the forest to gain the open hillside and the north ridge line of Beinn na Socaich, a munro top. Once we have gained the ridge, we will continue to Beinn na Socaich and then onto a unnamed munro top. Here we will lighten the load and leave the rucksacks before descending south to a bealach. Here a steep uphill climb leads to Sgurr Choinnich, the first munro of the day.
To continue, we now retrace out steps back to where we left the rucksacks and continue along the main ridge line of the Grey Corries to Stob Coire an Laoigh, the second munro of the day. Next we pass over three munro tops to gain the summit of Stob Choire Claurigh, the third munro and the final munro of the main ridge line of the Grey Corries.
To reach Stob Ban we need to descend south passing over loose boulders to gain a low lying bealach. From this bealach a steep uphill climb leads to the summit of Stob Ban, the fourth and final munro of this epic circuit.
Descent is to the west, down a pleasant grassy ridge to gain a 4×4 track, a long but pleasant walk out along this track now lies in front of us until we reach the parking at Corriechollie.
