Rock climbing is becoming more and more popular and this fun introductory course at Auchinstarry Quarry for adults is a fantastic way to experience this expanding sport at a great location with a pleasant outlook over the surrounding countryside.
Who is this course for:
This is a fun course aimed at complete beginners with no or little experience of rock climbing. It is also a good stepping stone for those that climb indoors at a climbing wall or bouldering wall that would like to try rock climbing outside on real rock.
What the course includes:
The course will begin with some fun warm-up games, on natural rock. Once warmed up we will move on to rock climbing, learn how to tie in with a suitable knot, set up a belay device and belay for a lead climber. Learn how to remove rock climbing protection with a nut key and rack it safely on your harness. You will get to top-out all routes climbed and abseil from the top of the routes back to the base of the quarry whilst under the expert supervision of a fully qualified Mountain Training, Rock Climbing Development Instructor & Development Coach.
All equipment to enjoy this fun, introductory rock climbing course will be provided at no extra cost. This includes, harness, helmet and rock shoes.
What to bring:
Bring warm clothes, a wind proof jacket, plenty of snacks and a drink of water.

The cost is £100.00 per person. We will be meeting at the parking space in front of Auchinstarrt Quarry @ 10.30, 23rd June 2024.

Please note rock climbing activities are weather dependant. An alternative venue maybe used on the day. Where this is not possible the event will be moved to a mutually agreed alternative date.
